This week, EXPOL featured on Seven Sharp after lending a hand to clean up another manufacturer’s polystyrene product that had been illegally dumped in a South Auckland stream.
“Even though it wasn’t EXPOL product that was dumped, our business has always been committed to responsible manufacturing and use of polystyrene. We take that commitment seriously, so getting involved in the clean-up was something we were happy to do,” says EXPOL General Manager, Mark Mischefski.
EXPOL operates a recycling programme which sees the company collect excess product from building sites, and recycle it into other products. Each year, around 350 tonnes of product is collected by EXPOL, to be recycled and re-used.
The company recycling programme was also taken a step further in 2019, with a pilot scheme involving five additional collection points around Auckland where members of the public can drop off unused EXPOL product.
“The new drop-off points are designated for use by the public only (not trade customers), however commercial clients can rest assured that we have the construction community well covered with our collection for recycling initiative,” says Mischefski.
Unused excess product can be dropped off for recycling at:
- Mitre 10 Mega New Lynn - 5 Astley Ave, New Lynn, Auckland
- Mitre 10 mega Glenfield - 15 Poland Rd, Wairau Valley, Auckland
- Dayle ITM Avondale - 713 Rosebank Rd, Avondale, Auckland
- Western ITM Whenuapai - 2 Airport Rd, Whenuapai, Auckland
- Chesters Plumbing New Lynn - 45 Portage Rd, New Lynn, Auckland
Trade customers using EXPOL products are encouraged to contact their supplier to learn more about the collection and recycling service.
